“Books are like gum. They don’t expire!” These are the words of one of the cool Hollywood agents I’ve worked with over the course of my career, and I definitely find it to be true.
It takes people years and years to finally read books. Every day—literally every day—I receive mentions and DMs from new readers across multiple social media platforms, telling me they just finished Murder, and they’re all hopped up on it.
I love to read again (finally) in sobriety, so I’m in touch with this energy from my readers right now perhaps more than ever. Of course, I can’t wait to have a second book to promote someday! Hopefully that will be out in the next two years.
Until then, five-and-a-half years after publication, I continue to discuss and promote How To Murder Your Life as—and because—my readership continues to grow.
Sometimes, the new reader is even a celebrity, like young queen Iris Apatow, or Addison Rae:
Other times, my new readers are…podcasters! Recently, I was honored to have my book “covered” by Celebrity Memoir Book Club podcast. So many people tipped me off that this podcast had covered the book—and they sent links. What did I think? They talked about me like I was a real celebrity—that is, like I wasn’t listening. But I was.
Ouch, I thought sometimes, when they said things about me, or my family. Or how bad my apartments must have smelled?! (Hilariously inaccurate. I was a beauty editor!)
But.
With such a thorough breakdown of my book—well, to me, that’s respect for the work. I truly appreciated it!

One thing I remembered from listening to the podcast is how much people enjoy that I lived with Nev Schulman from Catfish the movie, Mtv's Catfish: The TV Show, and Dancing with the Stars.
Yes, around the time that I got promoted to associate beauty editor at Lucky, I moved into Nev’s brother’s room in an apartment on East 6th Street between B and C.
