#056 : XOJANE THROWBACK / WHY WE ALL NEED TO GET OFF ADDERALL
Original publication date: Nov 30, 2022
Amphetamine! It has brought me to my knees so many times.
Adderall is the leading cause of It Girl authors having to wear clown wigs and sob through every photo shoot during the promotion of their first book:
Did you know?
I started on it in New York when I was 18 or 19—switching from the (drastically less euphoria-inducing) Ritalin I took for ADHD since age 15.
Adderall teens and twenties: it’s like hiring a psychopath contractor to build the foundation of your house.

I know for a fact that a bunch of my readers are on—specifically—Adderall. Let Auntie Cat give you some advice.
The less Adderall you take—the lower the dose—the more effective it is. I think people should take 20 mg. per day, max. Anything more puts your brain in the blender.
No one I know has ever taken that little. Adderall sucks as an ADHD medication because it makes you high. And being high makes you want to be more high.
Switching to once-a-day 40 mg. Vyvanse (which I split into two doses) about four years ago made it so I never felt high off of my own supply ever again. I really recommend trying this…if you’re not ready to get off of amphetamine completely. And who is?
Oh, wait. ME.
